Art among the villages of Monferrato

Day 1

• Arrive to Campo Ligure, one of the “Most beautiful villages of Italy”.
• Independent visit of the historic centre.
• Entrance to the Filigree Museum: treasure trove of an ancient art which has one of its international capitals here. This jewellery art consists in working fine threads of precious metal to produce items with a light and re- fined design.
• Visit a filigree production workshop.
• Lunch at leisure.
• Entrance and guided tour of the medieval Castle of Spinola that dominates the village. • Transfer to Ovada. Walk through the hi- storic centre of the town characterised by narrow streets and magnificent colourful bu- ildings that are evidence of the influence of the Genoese Republic which governed these lands.
• Aperitif at the Regional Wineshop of “Ova- da and Monferrato” to discover the Dolcetto di Ovada DOCG.
• Dinner in a historical eatery with tasting of farinata, local traditional dish made with chi- ckpea flour and baked in the oven.
• Overnight accommodation in B&B in Ovada or the immediate surroundings.

Day 2

• Breakfast and transfer to Tagliolo Monfer- rato.
• Visit the Castle accompanied by Marquis Pinelli Gentile: the structure is divided into va-
rious towers and buildings, with magnificent halls full of frescoes and sculptures. From the top of the main tower, you can enjoy an all-round view of the hills and understand its strategic position throughout history. The castle is surrounded by the medieval village, ideal for a timeless walk.
• Lunch at leisure.
• Transfer to Gavi, awarded orange flag by the TCI (Italian Touring Club). Walk along the ancient roads of the village, where the houses and the colours are typical of Liguria. Do not miss the Church of San Giacomo with its deli- ghtful Romanesque portal.
• Dinner at leisure and overnight accommo- dation in B&B in Gavi or in the immediate surroundings.

Day 3

• Breakfast and transfer to Voltaggio. Along the streets of the historic centre, you can admire the Roman Bridge over the Lemme and the Parish Church of the Assunta which is home to several paintings by Sinibaldo Scor- za and a wooden simulacrum by Anton Maria Maragliano.
• To follow, visit of the Capuchin Convent and its extraordinary art gallery. The works range from the 15th to the 18th century by Ligurian, Piedmont and Lombard artists.
• On the way back, stop at Carrosio to taste the amaretti, biscuits made with almonds and sugar, expertly made by four generations and authentic delicacy of the area.
• Visit and tasting in a winery producing Gavi DOCG, one of the most famous Piedmont wines in the world.
• Dinner at leisure and overnight accommo- dation in B&B in Gavi or in the immediate surroundings.

Day 4

• Breakfast and transfer to Tortona. Visit the Art Gallery Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Tortona – Divisionism. The full collection of works is focused on the painting current of the last decade of the 1800s and the focus are the works of Pellizza from Volpedo and Angelo Barabino.
• Lunch at leisure.
• Transfer to Volpedo, inserted among the most beautiful villages of Italy and birthpla- ce of the painter Giuseppe Pellizza. Here it is possible to visit his house and studio tran- sformed into a museum. Many of his works are set in his native village, where a 10-stage itinerary has been created in which it is possi- ble to compare the setting with copies of the Master’s paintings.
• Transfer to Alessandria.
• Dinner at leisure and overnight accommo- dation in 3* central hotel.

Day 5

• Breakfast and walk in the historic centre of Alessandria.
• Visit the Art Rooms of the Museum of the Civic Art Gallery, home to important col- lections of Alessandria.
• Lunch at leisure and end of package.
