Cantine Volpi

Cantine Volpi was set up in Tortona in 1914. Since then, for four generations, it has undergone continuous developments to become a benchmark company in the wine sector of Piedmont, an authentic expression of the Tortona Hills. It has always been innovation-oriented: between the 1970s and 1990s, with the Cortese Docg of the Tortona Hills, it established itself in Italy as the key protagonist of the launch of 'natural white sparkling wine', forerunner of the worldwide success of Prosecco and Franciacorta. During the same period, it brought the Barrique to the cellars, and began the production and sale of Novello wine. In the 1990s, it was one of the first wineries to embrace, with determination, the choice of Organic in large numbers. Today, it accounts for 70% of production. In 2003, it purchases Cascina Agricola "La Zerba" in Volpedo to complete the strong rooting process in the Tortona Hills. It also starts its activity of wine production with Colli Tortonesi DOC Barbera Superiore and Colli Tortonesi DOC Timorasso - Derthona that win international prizes and awards. Today, the family is represented by Carlo Volpi who manages a company that produces over 4 million bottles, exporting 90% to 35 Countries.
