Castello Torriani e Bandello

The district of Castelnuovo Scrivia originally belonged to Pavia and then to Tortona before coming under the feudal control of the Torriani family after which it became a free town; it then passed into the hands of the Visconti before being conquered by the Austrians and finally, in the 1700s, by the House of Savoy. Of the old castle, remain the square tower crowned by false Ghibelline crenellations and parts of the wall on which the praetorian palace was built in the 14th century, whose main facade is characterised by a pointed archway surmounted by two mullioned windows. Ancient documents record the presence of two other castles. The Castle falls will take part in the Castelli Aperti event. 2022 openings: guided tours from 15 to 18 starting at 15-16-17 Sunday 15 May - Castelli Aperti day Sunday 22 May - San Desiderio with climb to the tower (also open 10-12.30) Sunday 29 May 4th Sunday of August - patronal feast day 1st November - Carsent fair 8 December - Christmas markets and "Facciamo l'albero insieme" Other dates available on booking.
