CAVE DI MOLETO

We are in the very epicentre of Monferrato, in those tuff quarries that have provided the raw material to build homes and castles throughout Monferrato. For centuries, this place has inspired the legend of the gold of the Saracens, who, fleeing, after occupying these areas, seem to have hid it right here. This village, entirely in tuff, is also legendary and home to a beautiful rustic trattoria, animated in summer in the courtyard, or in the theory of rooms that are all cosy, romantic and beautiful. There is also the Bar Chiuso that attracts many young people (in love): a bar in the open air where you drink and eat surrounded by a magnificent panorama and with a beautiful jazz soundtrack. Live music on Thursday evenings. For the rest, settle into yet another country restaurant, which looks onto the valleys of grignolino and barbera vineyards. The starters (average price €8) include cured meats (muletta), but also sage and garlic scented marinated capon in double balsamic reduction or the bell pepper timbale with fresh cow's milk cheese on bagna cauda. Of the first course (average price €8) know that the ox agnolotti Monferrato-style with nonna Emma’s meat sauce are really worth it. The semolina and chard gnocco on Parmesan fondue, the square-cut egg spaghetti with finely chopped San Marzano tomatoes, the Pilaf rice sauteed with crispy vegetable julienne and Venus rice are truly out of the ordinary. On to the second course (average price €14), the pork escalope breaded and fried and marinated with sour vegetables, the chicken curry bites, thinly sliced beef Gabriele-style, lamb cutlets with fresh mint, mixed grill for two or more people (served with its sauces) and finally the pork escalope with porcini mushrooms, which will be delicious. The desserts (average price €5) include: cake of the day, tiramisù with chocolate flakes, cold zabaglione with amaretti biscuits served with Oro dei Saraceni (homemade raisin wine), baked lime cheesecake, homemade bonet (very good, according to the expectations of the Monferrato-style bonet). You will also be happy with the wine, which is clearly from Monferrato. moleto@moleto.it
