CORONA CAFÈ

Novi is not to be underestimated, on the contrary. Lately, the areas of Novi and Gavi are enjoying a revival thanks to famous weddings in the nearby hills, and they deserve to be attentively rediscovered. Try one evening to lose yourself among its streets and its 17th century buildings; without a destination, by chance, passing in front of Palazzo Peloso, then Via Girardengo, Piazza Dellepiane with its meridian and garden, Galleria Perelli, la Maddalena. Having arrived close to the station, close an eye to the dilapidated (and hopefully recoverable) Palazzo Durazzo and enter Corona, a bar that has become famous in the town for dinner, after dinner and, let's not forget, delightful aperitifs.

We chose the lunch formula, with three menus (meat, fish or vegetarian) composed of two dishes, to which we can add a dessert and coffee.
Choosing the fish menu, you will taste penne with tomato and fish (the pasta was a little overcooked and the sauce a bit loose), better the octopus with potatoes, tender and simple. In the meat menu, the saffron and sausage rice (the cooking was a little too much here too), though the taste and aroma of the dish are discrete. In this case, the carne salada in carpaccio is better and perhaps the most convincing dish even if the simplest and less "cooked". A special mention for the crème brûlée with cherries, very balanced and finally different from the usual (and often "badly treated") preparation.
The lavender cremino is discrete. Average prices: starters euro 10, first courses 10, main courses 15, desserts 5. Tasting menu: 25 euro, excluding wines.

End with a coffee and lots of kindness from the staff who, when a sudden downpour arrived, accompanied us to our car.
