ELIO’S BURGER E GRILL

A butcher's that grills on-site is the entrepreneurial project behind this successful shop - restaurant set up by the young Stefano Bovone in a peripheral area of Alessandria. The setting is that of a butcher's and at the entrance there is the counter with the cuts of meat in full view, facing onto a small dining room furnished with an American touch.

The offer ranges from the classic Piedmontese Fassone to the Tuscan Chianina, to Italian buffalo meat. Then the finest international cuts of beef of Nebraska, Latvia, or Black Angus from Australia or the Italian type Kobe up to, for pork, the grey pig of the woody meadows of Dané. Those who prefer a hamburger can choose an excellent roll of Piedmontese Fassone, buffalo or chicken, also available to take away (as well as the rest of the meats, both raw and cooked).

As a starter, the assortment of cured meats is fun, with serrano or Parma 36 months, lardo of Patanegra, salami of Sant'Olcese, testa in cassetta and culatello. The list of desserts is short for now (the choice is usually between two excellent cheesecakes) as that of the wines (the choice to focus on Ovada is appreciated), while the beers are those of the local brewery Civale. The opening times between butcher's and restaurant are mixed: 10.30 – 14.00 and 18.30 – 23.00, for a formula which seems to be ready to be successfully replicated.
