Museo di arte sacra San Giacomo

The San Giacomo Museum of Sacred Art, set up in the historical complex of San Giacomo in Lu, consists of the church founded in the 13th century and rebuilt between 1568 and 1610, its sacristy and the Casa della Reggenza. In 1998, the San Giacomo Cultural Association was set up with the purpose of preserving the historical memory of the architectural, artistic and literary works for future generations. The restoration work undertaken on the building has allowed to recover not only the place of worship but also a cultural meeting space: the San Giacomo Museum. The Museum is home to some of the most significant testimonies in the history of the faith of Lu and its territory, including works by Guglielmo Caccia and his daughter, Suor Orsola Maddalena. The more than one hundred items preserved, have been mostly restored and returned to their original splendor. It is possible to admire works of goldsmithery, antique fabrics, wooden sculptures, reliquaries, memories of life in Lu and testimonies of the religious life of famous residents of Lu. The San Giacomo Museum of Lu is an integral part of the Museum System of the Diocese of Casale Monferrato. To date, it includes the Cathedral of Saint Evasio with the "Open Sacristy" route, the "Archaeological Route of the Attics" and the Shrine of Crea with its Sacred Mountain.
