Palazzo Lignana di Gattinara
Palazzo Lignana di Gattinara, in Rivalta Bormida, stands at the end of Contrada Lunga, now Via Giuseppe Baretti. The building, with its sober elegant facade, is a typical example of an aristocratic residence of "Alto Monferrato" (southern part of Monferrato). Late-Gothic structure with 17th century modifications as evidenced by the inscriptions in the loggia. From the 17th century portal, having crossed the walnut-wood door, one enters the Loggia degli Esposti (16th - 17th century), so called because of the presence of the 16th century aedicula in stone which housed the foundling wheel, originally placed in the Monastery of San Teobaldo of Asti. The loggia faces onto a small enchanting Italian-style garden, redesigned according to the 18th century cadastral map. Of particular interest is the staircase with frescoes (18th century) and the marquis chapel, which houses paintings and family heirlooms (18th century and 19th century). Palazzo Lignana di Gattinara is currently home to the Elisabeth de Rotschild Foundation.
