Parco del Po tratto vercellese/alessandrino - Cascina Belvedere

The Cascina Belvedere Visitor Centre is located 1.5 km from the bridge of Valenza on state road 494 Vigevanese in the direction of Mortara and Lomellina. Once an agricultural residence and hunting lodge of a well-known reserve, it has been renovated becoming more than twenty years ago the seat of the Garzaia Nature Reserve of Valenza, original heart of the Po River Park. Today, it is home to two large educational rooms with natural history specimens that describe the typical river environments; a scientific laboratory; a well-stocked herbarium and a feather collection. Other areas are dedicated to activities and to environmental education programmes for school groups, including a library with texts and manuals for the different age groups. The Cascina is the starting point for the path that leads to the observation points for birdwatching and nature photography, which are accessible by appointment.
